Master Kraig Hollingworth began his martial arts journey at the prestigious Toushi Kan Martial Art Institute under the guidance of Shigeki Umemoto, Founder of Toushi Kan. He trained and competed as a Toushi Kan full-contact fighting team member, helping his team earn numerous state, national, and world titles. Today, Master Hollingworth remains a senior member of the Toushi Kan Martial Art Institute and continues to share his extensive knowledge through karate lessons and martial arts classes for students of all ages.
In 1990, Master Hollingworth expanded his studies under Grand Master Jerry Cook and Grand Master Jinheng Li, delving into various Chinese martial arts styles. The following year, he began teaching for ACTIVSTARS, Inc., where he introduced karate classes to over 1,300 students throughout Phoenix. His reputation for excellence and leadership made ACTIVSTARS one of the most recognized names for families searching for karate classes near me in the region.
In 1995, Master Hollingworth moved to Kansas City to grow the ACTIVSTARS program and later trained in Kendo under Doshu Shiro Shintaku at the International Ryukyu Kemp Headquarters. By 1998, he had relocated to Denver, Colorado, to further expand the organization. During this time, he authored The Karate Workbook — a premier training resource for all martial art styles and systems.
In 2004, Master Hollingworth created and published Project S.A.F.E. Shield, a comprehensive abduction-prevention and anti-bullying program that now reaches students in 16 states. This initiative reinforces his lifelong dedication to developing discipline, safety, and confidence through martial arts training.
Today, Master Hollingworth serves as the Director of ACTIVSTARS ATHLETICS, overseeing operations in Arizona, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Texas, and Florida. His programs continue to inspire students and families across the country, providing high-quality karate lessons, martial arts classes, and leadership development for the next generation of martial artists.
