ActivStars Athletics karate classes are offered for
Beginners, Intermediates, and Advanced students in the following areas:

Our martial arts classes are great for beginners to the most advanced students.

Kids from 4 years old all the way up to adults can participate. Martial arts is a great way to exercise both body and mind. At ActivStars Athletics, our instructors provide a whole other level of learning that builds upon the unique abilities of each individual student. 

 

Whether you are learning Karate, Kung Fu, Taekwondo, or SafeShield self-defense, our classes have been optimized over the past 30 years to enable students at all age and abilities to progress. Each class is structured so that students learn important life skills like discipline, integrity, accountability, and respect while they train with fellow students and their master instructor.

 

Parents can actively volunteer to assist in the various drills and games that establish excitement and fun in every class.

ActivStars Athletics want to make learning martial arts so easy and fun for every student and family. That is why we have no contracts. Our sessions usually runs in 3 month windows and families can sign-up any time and even pay class to class. Join our martial arts family today.

Fun

  • Every class integrates drills, challenges, and games that make learning engaging and fun.

Instruction

  • Classes of 20-30 students are held once a week with supplemental homework.

  • Opportunity to take other classes during the week based on location and class availability.

  • Interactive and dynamic activities.

  • Belt advancement testing.

  • Leadership training. 

Safety

ActivStars Athletics has trained over 30,000 students ranging from black belts to special needs kids who require additional support. Every instructor is trained in how to be black belts in kids and safety first to make training at ActivStars Athletics fun and safe for the whole family.
 

  • All instructors are background checked and SafeShield certified.

Our Classes

Beginner Classes (White – Green)

45 minute classes / once a week

Find a class:

The primary objective
is to teach students safety awareness, good morals, and basic self-defense techniques.

The secondary objective 
is to teach the formal aspects of martial arts, such as basic techniques (strikes, kicks, blocks, stances).

Perfection of techniques is not required for the promotional testing of lower ranks.

Teaching children how to stay safe in today’s world is the objective.

White Belt

Begin:

  • Basic blocks, strikes, kicks

  • Break-free and run self-defense techniques

  • Dojo etiquette and traditions

  • Making new friendships

  • Earning weekly ribbons based on karate home challenges

  • Anti-Abduction SafeShield lessons

Yellow Belt

Continue:

  • Basic blocks, strikes, and kicks

  • Break-free and run self-defense techniques

  • Earning weekly ribbons based on karate home challenges

  • Dojo etiquette and traditions

  • Building new friendships

  • Anti-Abduction SafeShield lessons

Green Belt

Complete:

  • Basic blocks, strikes, and kicks

  • Basic self-defense techniques

  • A strong knowledge of dojo etiquette and traditions

Continue:

  • Weekly Rribbons based on karate home challenges.

  • Students begin learning kata/forms.

  • Anti-Abduction SafeShield lessons.

Begin:

  • Basic sparring skills

Intermediate Classes (Blue and Purple)

60 minute classes / once a week

Find a class:

The primary objective is to introduce the formal aspect of the martial arts: blocks, kicks, strikes, stances, kata, self-defense techniques, one-steps, sparring, martial arts etiquette, and discipline.

Anti-Bullying skills and lessons are reinforced at this level.

Demonstration of increased martial arts skills is required for promotional testing of intermdiate ranks.

Blue Belt

Begin:

  • Intermediate blocks, strikes, and kicks

  • Intermediate self-defense techniques with pre-emptive and finishing techniques

  • One-step techniques with pre-emptive and finishing techniques

  • Anti-bullying Lessons

  • Basic kata/forms

  • Safe weapon forms

  • Earning merit badges

 

Continue:

  • Basic sparring skills

Purple Belt

Continue:

  • Intermediate blocks, strikes, and kicks

  • Intermediate self-defense techniques

  • Intermediate one-steps

  • Anti-bullying lessons

  • Earning merit badges

Begin:

  • Intermediate sparring skills

  • Intermediate kata/forms.

  • Intermediate weapon forms.

Advanced Classes  (Orange – Black)

90 minute classes / once a week

Find a class:

The primary objective is to develop proficiency in all of the martial arts techniques listed above.

The secondary objective is developing leadership skills in class and out of class.

Promotional testing for high-ranking students is based upon effectively demonstrating proper technique and form.

Continue:

  • Intermediate weapon training

Begin:

  • Advanced blocks, strikes, and kicks

  • Leadership skills & becoming senpai students

  • Developing teamwork skills

  • Advanced self-defense techniques, including joint locks and takedowns

  • Advanced one-step techniques, including joint locks and take downs​

  • Advanced kata/forms

  • Earning advanced merit badges

Red Belt

Continue:

  • Advanced blocks, strikes, and kicks.

  • Leadership skills & becoming senpai students.

  • Developing teamwork skills

  • Advanced self-defense techniques, including joint locks and takedowns

  • Advanced one-step techniques, including joint locks and takedowns.

  • Weapon training

  • Advanced kata/forms

  • Earning advanced merit badges

Brown Belt

Continue:

  • Various weapon techniques and forms

  • Developing strong leadership skills & become trusted senpai students

  • Develop strong teamwork skills

  • Earning merit badges.

Begin:

  • Mastery of advanced blocks, strikes, and kicks

  • Mastery of advanced self-defense

  • Mastery of advanced one-step

  • Mastery of advanced kata/forms

  • Learning to ring assist at tournaments

Black Belt

Master:

  • 30 blocks, 30 strikes, and 30 kicks

  • Leadership skills & become trusted senpai students

  • Teamwork skills

  • 44 advanced self-defense techniques

  • 30 advanced one-step techniques

  • 10 kata/forms

Students:

  • Continue to learn various weapon techniques and forms

  • Complete earning merit badges

  • Create life-long friendships

  • Learn to judge at tournaments.

  • Have the opportunity to be accepted into an apprentice program.
