My name is Sensei Douglas Bates and I am a 1st Degree Black Belt. I started my martial arts training under the ACTIVSTARS program in 2009. I earned my Black Belt in 2018 and began assisting/teaching as soon as I turned 16. I graduated highschool from Kapaun Mt. Carmel in May 2021 and I currently attend Coffeyville Community College where I play football.

I love martial arts in my life because it helps me stay disciplined and walk with confidence. This is what I want the kids to learn from karate, the feeling of confidence in everything they do. I want them to know karate is not all about punching and kicking, but also about learning the biometrics of what they are doing.
